(1) The duty of the jailer shall be as follows –
(a) All the missiles, books, documents and goods of the jail and his property in accordance with this Act or the rules made under this Act. To keep all things and goods entrusted safely, (b) to arrange guard duty so that the prisoner cannot escape and whether the person assigned to such duty duty is present or not or whether such person performs his duty well or (c) To observe other duties as written in other sections of this Act or the rules made under this Act or other applicable laws of Nepal.
(2) Every jailer must reside in a place appointed by the government and must not leave the jail at night without the permission of the concerned chief district officer. When entering the prison, the constable who is on duty at that time should also check and search the suspected person and if he is found to be bringing or taking any prohibited item or any property of the prison, he should immediately inform the jailer.
(4) ) No employee of the prison shall be absent from the prison without the permission of the jailer or the concerned Chief District Officer.
(5) Other duties of the prison employees shall be as prescribed.
